As one of the more popular and recent entrants into the world of popular smart phone devices released over the past year, HTC has managed to create a huge ground swell of passion over its latest project. Recent reports popping up all across the web are saying that in the United Kingdom, the HTC Desire is selling out in record numbers. One of the larger UK retailers, O2, has already begun to delay shipping of the device or try to appeal to customers to try another device instead since they have been experiencing low stock volume. This has lead many people to set about finding the smart phones through other channels, a big boost for the web based retailers who were smart enough to ensure they had been carrying the phones in massive volume. This is definitely going to mean a change in the shape of the retail industry as web merchants continue to prove more adept at stocking and delivering mobile devices where land based operators are frequently overwhelmed.
Many experts view the situation regarding the Desire as a symbol of the days to come, when the more customer service oriented sites such as Dialaphone have in stock what customers want as the traditional retailers are content to ask their customers to wait for the next incoming shipment. If this trend continues for HTC, it should also mean the brand becomes far more adept at communicating the value of the technology they offer and establishing themselves as premiere players in the smart phone market.
