Netflix on Its Way to iPhone

It turns out that Apple just may be getting yet another boost to support their dominance as the smart phone industry’s most prevalent mobile device, especially for higher end users looking to stream video and participate in broadband web browsing on the go. According to recent reports, Netflix is going to unveil a new app in the summer of 2010 that is designed to deliver their streaming video content over the iPhone through both Wi Fi and 3G connections. This will be a huge boost for Netflix which is fast becoming one of the most sought after companies in terms of providing video on demand direct to consumers. It will allow the brand to distribute through a list of service routes that now include: smart phones, TV sets, video game consoles and computers. This is a huge seizing of the market share in this still nascent industry as video on demand has risen in popularity hoping to help Hollywood battle the easy piracy of its movies.
The adaptive HTTP streaming will improve the video quality for iPhone users, according to what CEO Steve Jobs revealed in a recent mention of the service during a press conference, and it should be quite advanced. This means that it will allow users to watch movies over the same device they bought at Phones4u and then pause the movie, resuming it later via TV in the same position that they had stopped it in earlier. This is a major advance in cross platform service solutions, particularly as it pertains to entertainment.
