Hewlett Packard has long been a big name in the printer maker industry and now they have announced that not only are they going to be the world’s largest maker of printers, they are going to take a new foray into totally untested territory through a series of new innovations for their printers. The innovations will be quite new to printers and part of the Photosmart line that HP offers generally for business level machine solutions. The new printers will have the ability to have an address set up for them right over the web and there is a long term plan in place which will enable any of the machines to be able to print directly via commands given right over the net. This web connectivity will be offered at a price of just under $100 and will give customers the support of a cloud computing platform called ePrint that lets them email a document and store it on the net where it can then be retrieved for printing at a later date. The new all in one machines are likely to be sold in the tens of millions by the time 2012 rolls around according to analysts at HP who predict their wide scale popularity.
By adding in the features to all of the HP line of laser and ink jet printers through a gradual process, the company assures users that no special software will need to be installed nor will drivers be required. The documents can be set to print over the web not just via a PC or Mac, but also over a mobile smart phone or similar device.
